Light Diesel Oil (L.D.O.)
Light Diesel Oil (L.D.O.) falls under the Class C category fuel, with a flash point above 66°C, making it safe and stable for industrial applications. It is formulated as a blend of distillate components with a small portion of residual fractions and is marketed under the BIS 1460-2000 specification for diesel fuels. At Asian Organics, we deal in trusted brands such as Castrol, Hindustan Petroleum (HP), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Gulf, and Veedol. LDO is primarily used in low RPM engines, lift irrigation pump sets, DG sets, and as a reliable fuel for boilers and furnaces.
Safety Information
- Reactivity Data: LDO is chemically stable under normal conditions but incompatible with strong oxidizers. It does not react vigorously with most common materials, though caution should be taken around oxidizing agents.
- Health Hazards: Entry routes include inhalation, ingestion, skin contact, and eye contact. Prolonged exposure should be avoided as it may cause irritation and long-term skin effects.
Emergency Treatment
- Inhalation: Move the affected person to fresh air immediately. If breathing has stopped, administer artificial respiration. If unconscious but breathing, place the victim in the recovery position and provide external cardiac massage if required.
- Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Remove contaminated clothing and wash affected skin thoroughly with soap and water. Administration of medical paraffin may help reduce absorption through the digestive tract. Gastric lavage should be carried out only after endotracheal intubation to avoid aspiration risks.
- Eyes: Rinse immediately with copious amounts of clean water and seek medical attention.
- Severe Cases: For chemical pneumonitis, antibiotic and corticosteroid therapy may be necessary under medical supervision.
